Well I have a lot of places in mind. The top two contenders are the edges of India i.e. Kerala and J&K.
But being a mountain person (Ok. I like beaches but not as much as I loooovvveee the hills) I would suggest that you visit J&K.

Well the best thing would be to take a road trip :

Manali - Leh - Srinagar

You start from Manali, green and white heaven. Manali to Leh takes 2 days and an overnight stay at Jispa would be fantastic. I stayed at a riverside camp and loved the freezing cold environment. The next evening you reach Leh. I must warn you, Manali to Leh is not a very easy ride. The roads are bumpy and the altitude jumps are nauseating. But But But. That pure beauty. All it takes to forget your headache, bodyache etc etc is one look out of the window. You would pass numerous green patches, rivers, valleys, snowy slopes, rocks, barren mountains, sandy hilltops, even plains, etc etc. The landscape changes within a matter of minutes. Its just magical !
Once you're in Leh, you can visit the numerous monasteries and other spots in the city and also take day trips or camp over-night at Pangong Lake or Nubra Valley or Tso Moriri. Its such a great feeling to be at the top. You would definitely feel minute in front of the huge mountains and the gigantic lakes.
Then the other half of the journey begins. Leh to Srinagar is not as scenic as Manali to Leh but you get a chance to visit Kargil and Drass. You get a chance to pay homage to our war heroes and salute the bravery of our determined soldiers.
Once in Srinagar, you can enjoy a Shikara ride in Dal Lake and visit the beautiful gardens. You can take day trips down to Gulmarg, Sonmarg and Pahelgam. All 3 are gems of the Kashmir valley and are definitely must-not-miss places. You can enjoy snowy ski slopes in Gulmarg, river valley and apple orchards at Pahelgam and green or barren river-side slopes at Sonmarg.

Although for me Manali to Leh was one trip and Srinagar and surroundings was another trip. I would suggest you to club these two as mentioned above and get LOST in the serenity of the Heaven that is Kashmir and Ladakh.

So, here’s a list of the deadliest places in India that are spellbindingly gorgeous:
1. Aksai Chin, Jammu and Kashmir
Aksai Chin is a ceasefire line, one that separates the Indian-controlled state of J&K from the Chinese-controlled area. It lies further to the east and is known as the Line of Actual Control (LAC). It is also referred to as one of the most dangerous places in the world.

The unmatched beauty of Chambal has been long reigned by some of India’s most infamous outlaws, who also seemed to have fancied the creativity of Bollywood movie makers since a long time. However, the danger of falling prey to the regional dacoits is still quite possible and hence it’s usually avoided by travellers.
4. Manas National Park, Assam
You may find it hard to believe that a highly promoted wildlife sanctuary is also a place where terrorist activities have taken place but it’s true. Back in 2011, 6 WWF officials have been kidnapped by Bodo militants from Manas National Park. Government is still trying hard to keep peace and promote tourism of the wildlife sanctuary which is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful forest reserve in India.
5. Tura, Meghalaya
Tura is all about vibrant tribes, picturesque landscapes, gushing waterfalls, eerie limestone caves and sadly enough, terrorism. This little town in Meghalaya has been the victim of some of the most notorious terrorist organisations of Northeast since quite some time now making it a dangerous place for travellers.
6. Haflong, Assam
An enchanting town in the heart of NC Hills in Assam, Haflong faces major hindrance in its tourism sector by militants of various terrorist organisations.
7. Bastar, Chattisgarh
Home of the Indian Niagara Falls, Chitrakoot, Bastar is a district in Chhattisgarh with rampant Naxalite activities. The entire district is laden with places of enchanting natural beauty but unfortunately it’s also one of the primary places falling in the red corridor.
8. Phulbani, Odisha
Some 200 km away from Bhubaneswar in Odisha this splendorous little town is located boasting of charming waterfalls and picturesque landscapes. It is another place that falls in the red corridor of India affected by Maoists.
9. Nicobar Islands
Unlike the Andamans, the Nicobar Islands are untouched and pristine. The forests are lush and the beaches are surreal beyond explanation. However, foreigners would require passes to enter the Islands and no visitor is allowed to enter the tribal belts unless for some special purposes like research. And even for that one will have to go through rigorous formalities.
10. Barren Islands, Andaman
The only active volcano in India is located in the Barren Island of Andaman and Nicobar. You can see red-hot lava and smoke erupting from the mouth of the volcano for a distance inside the safety of a small ship. However, no one is allowed to get any closer to the hill due to safety reasons.

  2. The Chadar Trek or Zanskar frozen river trek is a winter trek in Zanskar Valley, Ladakh. The trek starts from Leh going through Shingra Koma, Tibb Cave, Naerak Camp concluding back in Leh. The 105 Km trek provides trekkers and hikers an amazing opportunity to trek on a frozen sheet of ice in subzero temperatures. The trek is operational during the months of January and February when the Zanskar river freezes into a solid sheet of ice.

Ladakh has various treks and beautiful camping locations. What sets Ladakh apart for travelers is the Chadar Trek which is quite challenging yet mesmerizing owing to its scenic beauty. That one glimpse of the topmost sections of the Himalayas would certainly awe an individual because of its breathtaking view.

The temperature during the trek varies from around -5 to -20 degrees celsius and the trekkers would occasionally face steep rocks along with facing treacherous sections of the Zanskar River. While this trek would offer a lot of difficult challenges, to the maximum point of questioning oneself, one would find all the answers once you observe and become a part of the Mighty Himalayas. And trust us, it would certainly be a life-changing experience.
